Many times we think of the ideal buying season to be the warmer months. But this isn’t the case. Winter buying can be the perfect season to buy and here’s why:
Motivated Sellers – Most times when a home goes on the market in the winter, that means the seller is going through a life changing event and have to move for whatever that reason may be.
Supply and Demand – There tends to be less buyers in the winter months. Which means that there is less competition for those houses on the market. Less buyers also means that a seller may be more willing to compromise to get their home sold.
Perspective – During the spring months, a home may have the windows open to let that fresh air in. But in the winter months, you get to see how the home is holding up to the elements. When you walk through the home, are there cold spots? Moisture spots? How are the windows and doors holding up, are there any drafts around those? Look for things that you would have missed if it was a lovely warm day.
Overall Savings – Moving companies and home repair companies do not have as much business during the colder months. Which means you may be able to snag a better deal because of it.
