Some people have no choice but to move during this time. If you are about to move, thinking about moving or will move in the coming weeks, staying put is not an option. Here are some tips to help make your move as safe as possible. Call/text me at 931-237-1417 and we can discuss this further.
- Do It Yourself – Many states have designated moving services as essential, so they can still operate. If you can do a DIY move, it will help you avoid contact with additional people. But if you do need a moving company call ahead and see what their sanitation policies are.
- Minimize contact – If you are going to work with a moving company, eliminate contact when possible. Ask if the company offers fully contactless service, ask for a virtual quote. When tipping a mover use paypal or another digital service).
- Extra Sanitary precautions – If you are doing it yourself, wear masks, gloves and booties. If you are using a company, they should have similar supplies for their employees. Make sure to disinfect objects that are touched often, especially door knobs and handles. Make sure soap and paper towels are available in every bathroom and sanitizer by all the doors. Buy new boxes. The coronavirus can live on cardboard for up to 24 hours. So you may not want to use used boxes.
- Cleaning out – Even without covid-19, there are many Americans unable to afford groceries, and now even more since schools and soup kitchens are closed. While cleaning out your kitchen, donate shelf stable goods to local food banks.
