Governor Lee announced that restaurants can reopen today, Monday April 27th. Besides having to meet federal guidelines for hygiene and sanitation, they will have to operate at 50 percent occupancy. That will help keep distances between patrons. It is also recommended for staff to wear cotton face masks.
The restaurant industry isn’t the only industry allowed to reopen. Tennessee retailers will be allowed to open Friday, May 1st. They also will be operating at 50 percent occupancy and must follow the same guidelines as stated above.
There is still no updates on when personal services will be allowed to open. This includes but not limited to barbers, nail salons and hairstylists.
It should be noted that this order supersedes all local government orders when it has to do with COVID-19.
Let’s remember, just because the state is opening back up, that does not mean we should become lax with efforts to stop the COVID-19 spread. Remember to wear face coverings, continue social distancing, and washing hands often. We still have to be vigilant.
